Supporting entrepreneurs and serving owner-managed businesses (OMBs), be they proprietorships, partnerships or family businesses, often can go beyond the specialized skill sets that a management consultant brings to the assignment. Not only must the consultant provide important business solutions, but also deal effectively with the special human dynamics inherent to OMBs, in order to achieve success.

In this information-packed session, Harvy Simkovits, CMC, will draw from over 20 years of knowledge and experience with OMBs (both as an internal owner-manager and external service provider) to address:

• how to work effectively with entrepreneurs (as opposed to professional managers)
• how to ferret out their business needs, both in terms of a snapshot of their business issues, and in relation to the stage of their company's growth
• how to create powerful and lasting commitment and change in OMB clients
• how to deal with the resource and time constraints that often exist in entrepreneurial businesses

As a speaker, writer, educator and consultant for over 15 years, Harvy Simkovits, President of Business Wisdom, has assisted hundreds of business owner-managers and their top teams to become their best in the service of their business and personal missions. He has written and published over 50 articles on OMB-related topics, including business development, company management and organization leadership and learning. Harvy has also spoken to many business and professional associations about his simple and profound approaches to OMB growth, prosperity and continuity.

As an added bonus, this presentation will act as a kickoff to a new OMB Professional Emphasis Group (PEG) for IMCNE. The purpose of this group is to further our professionalism, our ability, and our collegiality — as members of IMCNE — in the ways we competently develop business with, and serve the unique needs of OMBs. Those that attend will have the first opportunity to form the structure of this group and participate in its endeavors.
