Afternoon Workshop
Corporate Responsibility and You
What every consultant should know about ethics in today’s business climate

with a panel of experts in corporate ethics
3:00 - 6:00 pm (registration & networking 2:30-3:00 pm)

The recent, well-publicized scandals in corporate America have brought the issues of corporate responsibility and ethical leadership to the forefront, where they belong. But, what does it all mean for the independent consultant who has an "inside track" on the company to which he or she consults? How do we know if there is an ethical issue that needs to be addressed and, if so, how best to do it? Where can we get the help and advice we need to do our jobs most effectively?

For this workshop, we’ve brought together a distinguished panel of experts in the area of corporate ethics:

  • Lee Essrig, Director of Global Initiatives, Ethics Officer Association
  • Philip Holberton, President, The Holberton Group
  • Michael Rion, Principal, Resources for Ethics & Management

Through presentations and small-group exercises, our panel will address these and other issues that are so critical in today’s business environment for corporate leaders, and those advising them. In addition, the workshop will feature an interactive panel discussion with our audience, moderated by Harvy Simkovits, CMC.

An important and timely workshop for both consultants and their clients!

Dinner Program
Re-Spiriting the Workforce —
Lessons from The Corporate Shaman
with Richard Whiteley, consultant and award-winning author
6:45 - 9:00 pm (networking 6:00-6:45 pm)

People want more out of work than just a paycheck. As reported in Business Week in November of 1999, 78% of Americans expressed a need for spiritual growth in their lives. Today the number is even higher – and it extends into both the personal and professional aspect of people’s lives. As a result, today’s corporate leaders must know how to manage the paradoxes of opposites:

  • Technology and the human element
  • Telling people what to do and empowering them to think for themselves
  • Being tough and being compassionate
  • Focusing on short-term objectives and fostering long-term sustainability

The insights and methodology presented in Richard Whiteley’s latest book, The Corporate Shaman help leaders and the people who work for them access a more complete, objective view of the impact of mergers and acquisitions, downsizings, unanticipated crises and personnel changes on themselves and their workforce. Corporate shamans focus on the human element, the living, breathing heart of a company. They help companies recognize and heal the spiritual malaise that can cause reduced productivity, high turnover and debilitating tension in the workplace. They help to create the sense of personal meaning and commitment many people seek in the workplace today.

The objectives of this session are to:

  • understand how selected ancient, proven processes are relevant to today’s pressing business challenges
  • learn a powerful method for tapping into one’s intuition
  • learn how to create the high-passion/high-performance organization
  • discover and discuss a new leadership archetype… the compassionate healer
