Advice from a master...
On September 15, 2005, Dr. Anthony F. Buono will speak to the Institute of Management Consultants New England Chapter on a critical element of M&A success: how to help companies navigate the inevitable dilemmas in integrating a new acquisition.
We are all familiar with the statistics that show that the majority of mergers and acquisitions (M&As) fail to meet expectations. These failures cost corporate America billions of dollars every year. But what can corporate executives and consultants who advise them do about it?
Tony is Professor of Management and Sociology at Bentley College in Waltham. His presentation will draw on the chapter he wrote on M&A consulting in the excellent new book, Handbook of Management Consulting: The Contemporary Consultant -- Insights from World Experts ( South-Western College, 2005). Tony is also the Editor of the Research in Management Consulting book series published by Information Age Publishing (www.infoagepub.com) and co-author of The Human Side of Mergers and Acquisitions: Managing Collisions between People, Cultures and Organizations (Jossey-Bass, 1989; Beard Books, 2003).
Tony is an authority on management consulting as well as an active consultant himself. His real-world experiences bring this material alive and make it highly relevant to practicing consultants and corporate professionals who deal with the significant challenges of making M&As work.
Speed Networking
Join us for a special "speed networking" session beginning at 5:00. You'll spend just minutes apiece with many of those in attendance so that you can introduce yourself one-on-one to more consultant colleagues than usual. This speedy collegiality will be timed, facilitated, and guided. When it's over, you can go back and get to know those of particular interest to you at greater length. This will be fun as well as effective!
